How It Works

We choose Lycon wax for all of our waxing treatments for all of our waxing treatments. Lycon’s low-temperature melting point reduces risk of burning and skin trauma. The high-quality resins have minimal impact on sensitive skins and soothing oils, protect the skin’s barrier.

We use Lycon pre- and post-wax products, which create a barrier to reduce pulling on the skin. This supports faster recovery, leaving the area smoother with less inflammation and fewer ingrown hairs compared to standard waxes. When the skin is more hydrated, ingrown hairs are reduced.

Waxing FAQs

How long does my hair need to be before my visit?
Ideally, we would like to see around 2mm of growth before waxing. That usually gives the wax enough to grip properly so we can remove the hair cleanly from the root.

If the hair is too short, the wax may struggle to catch it, which can affect the finish and mean some hairs are left behind. In clinic, this is one of the most common reasons people do not get the smooth result they were hoping for. As a rough guide, it is often best to leave the area for around 7 to 10 days after shaving, although that can vary depending on how fast or slow your regrowth is.

Will the treatment hurt more if my hair is too long?
Not always. Our combination of high-end Lycon wax products and expert technique means your discomfort will be minimal.

Technique matters enormously. With the right wax, good preparation, and proper skin support during treatment, waxing is usually far more comfortable than people expect. Just read our reviews.

Is waxing safe during pregnancy?
Yes, waxing can be safely enjoyed during pregnancy at our clinic, where we prioritise hygiene, expertise and comfort.

Having treated many pregnant clients over the years, what we have noticed is that hormonal changes can affect your skin sensitivity. Some pregnant women will have a stronger pain threshold and others may feel a bit more sensitive.

Our premium Lycon wax products are specially designed for sensitive skin. To reassure you during this magical time, we maintain the strictest sterilisation and sanitation protocols throughout. Not to mention your comfort, which is just as important, with fully hydraulic, wide beds for you to move about on more easily.

Will I get ingrown hairs?
Some people are naturally more prone to ingrown hairs than others, especially if the hair is coarse, curly, or the skin is on the drier side. Others do not seem to suffer with ingrown hairs at all.

What we often see is that shaving tends to create more problems over time because of the blunt regrowth and repeated irritation to the skin. Waxing can help reduce that by removing the hair from the root, so regrowth often feels softer and finer.

We are huge advocates of good aftercare, as it really makes a big difference to the results of your treatment. Thorough consultations covering pre-care and aftercare sit closely with our clinic’s wider skin advice too, which consistently focuses on protecting the skin barrier and reducing inflammation rather than aggravating it further.

Keeping the skin well hydrated, avoiding friction, and not over-irritating the area with unnecessary harsh products can all help reduce the risk of ingrown hairs.

How old do I need to be for waxing?
We can treat clients from the age of 14, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

When treating younger clients, the most important thing is making sure they feel comfortable, that everything is explained clearly, and that the treatment is appropriate for them. Experience matters here as well. As mothers of young children ourselves, we understand that a calm, professional approach can make all the difference.

I have sensitive skin, can I still get waxing?
Yes, in most cases you can.

Sensitive skin does not automatically mean you cannot be waxed. What matters more is the condition of the skin on the day, the products being used, and the way the treatment is carried out. We use Lycon wax because it melts at a lower temperature and is designed to be kinder to the skin, which is particularly important if you are prone to redness, dryness, or irritation.

Even so, we always like to be realistic. Sensitive skin can still go pink, feel warm, or look slightly blotchy afterwards. That is usually temporary. The key is your aftercare. Treat the skin gently afterwards, avoid heat and friction, and support the skin barrier so it can settle quickly. That same barrier-first thinking runs through the clinic’s skincare advice more broadly, especially where redness and irritation are concerned.

Will waxing help if I get shaving rash?
Absolutely, yes.

Shaving rash is usually linked to repeated friction, irritation, and the way the hair is cut at the surface of the skin. In clinic, we often see this on the bikini line, underarms, face, and neck. Switching from frequent shaving to waxing can help because the hair is removed from the root rather than cut bluntly at skin level. The skin also suffers as a result of the friction from the razor blade.

With that said, the skin still needs the right support. If the barrier is already compromised, or the area is dry and inflamed, that needs to be managed properly as well. Good waxing is not just about hair removal. It is also about looking after the skin before, during, and after treatment so you do not keep repeating the same cycle of irritation.

How often will I need waxing?
This does vary from person to person, but for most clients it is somewhere between every 2 and 8 weeks, depending on the area being treated, your hormones, your hair cycle, and even factors like stress and general wellbeing.

For example, facial and neck hair usually requires treatment every 2 to 3 weeks, whereas leg and bikini hair usually require treatment every 4 to 6 weeks.

This is something we always explain honestly because hair growth is not identical in every client. Over time, many people notice the hair returning softer, finer, and often more sparsely, but consistency is important. Keeping to a sensible treatment schedule usually gives the best long-term result.

Can you wax if I am prone to redness or irritation afterwards?
Yes, but we would always approach that skin with care.

We see a lot of reactive skins in the treatment room. Some skins are simply more reactive, especially in colder weather, when the barrier is already struggling, or if you are using harsh products at home. In these cases, our aim extends beyond hair removal. It is to do so in a way that respects the skin and keeps post-treatment irritation to a minimum.

There will always be post-treatment advice given in the form of verbal and email aftercare.

In our experience, clients do much better when the focus is on calming, protecting and hydrating the skin, rather than using lots of harsh products afterwards. That is very much in keeping with the clinic’s overall approach to sensitivity and skin health.
